Woman details seven hour wait as Altnagelvin fails to meet A&E targets

NegOcc dengue cases climb to 7,208

first_imgBACOLOD City – The dengue cases recordedin Negros Occidental have reached over 7,000, the Provincial Health Officesaid. He added that the drop in the number of thedengue cases in Kabankalan can be attributed to the local government unit’s proactivemeasures against the deadly mosquito-borne disease.  Provincial Health officer Dr. ErnellTumimbang said the latest number is almost double compared to 4,327 cases inthe same period last year. PHO’s latest data showed a total of7,208 cases of the mosquito-borne disease recorded as of August this year. “We’ve already set the preventive measures and we need to continue it,” Tumimbang said./PN Based on PHO’s monitoring, Kabankalan Cityand Murcia have the highest number of dengue cases. Tumimbang, however, clarifiedthat new cases in Kabankalan has dropped to only 36, while the number of newcases in Silay City has jumped to 62. The number of fatalities, according toTumimbang, also increased to 57 compared to 52 last year. Tumimbang also said the number cases arestill an overall downtrend, pointing out that the province’s dengue casespeaked on Weeks 31 to 32. He further stated there is nothing toworry about, although he pointed out the need to sustain the campaign againstdengue through cleaning, fogging, and information dissemination.last_img read more

Jamaica held to 1-1 draw by El Salvador

first_imgJAMAICA drew 1-1 in a dour match against El Salvador in their final Group C match at the Alamodome on Sunday.It was the fourth meeting between the two teams in the Gold Cup with Jamaica winning the previous three matches. However, it was El Salvador who took the early lead, in the 15th minute, when forward Nelson Bonilla got through on goal and slotted into the right hand corner past goalkeeper Andre Blake.Both sides missed opportunities to score as the teams went to half-time with El Salvador leading 1-0.Jamaica would get the chance to equalize in the 64rd minute after the Reggae Boyz were awarded a penalty when Narciso Orellana handled the ball inside the box.Darren Mattocks booted home from the penalty spot and became Jamaica’s leading scorer in the Gold Cup competition. From there the game petered out to a tame draw which sent Jamaica on five points to the top of the group and into the quarter-final round.Mexico (4 points) is to play Curacao with anything other than a loss seeing them topping the group and also go through to the next round.El Salvador who also have four points are also likely to advance as one the of the two best third place teams.last_img read more
