Hornberger commemorates School Choice Week in Michigan

Pamela Hornberger, chair of the House Education Committee, introduced a resolution declaring Jan. 20 through Jan. 26 as School Choice Week in Michigan.School choice allows public education funds to follow students to the schools that best fit their needs, whether that’s a public, public-charter, or home school.Representative Hornberger, of Chesterfield Township, believes all students benefit from expanded opportunities and all students have the right to high-quality schools.“Research in Michigan and across the nation has shown that providing parents with multiple schooling options improves academic performance,” the former K-12 educator said. “There are so many fantastic schools in Michigan – public, public-charter, and private alike.  Students thrive when given the opportunity to choose the option best suited for them.”The second-term legislator says an effective and accountable education system plays a critical role in the preparation of Michigan’s young people.School Choice Week took place Jan. 20 to 26, 2019. 28Jan Hornberger commemorates School Choice Week in Michigan Categories: Hornberger Newslast_img
